Michelle R. Tompkins, DVM
Dr. Tompkins grew up in Greensboro, NC and first learned to love Veterinary Medicine as an after-school Veterinary Assistant while she attended High School at Caldwell Academy. She moved on to study Biology at Queens University of Charlotte, earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. She spent some time traveling from 2005-2006, studying literature in the UK and then working in the African Bush, participating in an ongoing research project in Kenya’s National Parks, published by Boston University. Dr. Tompkins attended Veterinary Medical School at Virginia Tech and has been serving the pets and people of Alleghany County and beyond as a Mixed and Small Animal Veterinarian since 2010.
In her free time, she can be found cheering her kids on at sporting events and hiking, biking and kayaking in the Blue Ridge Mountains she calls home. At the farm, she keeps a flock of chickens, Rosie (the pup pictured as a baby!), Kermit, Woody, Sprout and Mavis (the cat crew), Elvis and Waffles (Kune Kune Pigs) and a small herd of dairy show calves.
